Shannon’s raffle bid pays dividends

GAZETTE columnist Norman Maudsley, representing the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, collected a donation for the charity at Oakwood Court College which works with young people from 16 to 25 years old.

The money was raised before Christmas by one of the students, Shannon Hawker, who had sourced donations of raffle prizes and then raised the money selling raffle tickets around the college.

Norman presented Shannon with a Devon Air Ambulance Trust certificate to mark her good work.

The cheque presentation followed an illustrated talk by Norman about the history and development of the county’s two air ambulances, and their crews and supporters.

Shannon then gave a vote of thanks on behalf of her college friends.
