Death of former Gazette editor Cedric

A FORMER editor of the Dawlish Gazette and the Teignmouth News has died at the age of 81.

Cedric Clough ran the two newspapers for the then owner, David Banks, until his retirement at the age of 67.

He was a journalist all his life, starting on the Altrincham Guardian series in Cheshire at the age of 17, before moving to Dawlish to edit the Gazette.

Later he also took on responsibility for the Teignmouth News.

He had been seriously ill for some time. Cedric and his wife Val lived in Teignmouth for many years.

His funeral service will be held at St James’ Church, Teignmouth, on Wednesday, February 8 at 10.30am. This will be followed by interment at Teignmouth Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, four children and six grandchildren.
