Dawlish fundraisers' cataract challenge

TWO Dawlish fundraisers are taking the plunge in their support for Children’s Hospice South West.

Katy Welsh and Sonya Smith, from Dawlish, have raised almost £2,500 for Little Bridge House from various events and activities.

Now the pair, along with family and friends, are tackling a sponsored abseil at Canonteign Falls in July to add to their efforts.

A team of 15 will be lowering themselves 220 feet down England’s highest waterfall as part of a weekend of charity abseils in aid of the hospice.

Sonya and Katy have been fundraising for the charity for several years from sponsored walks to the flagship Rainbow Run event.

Their latest initiatives have included the charity bingo nights at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, organised by Jimmy Hill and Tim Bradshaw.

A prize draw brought in £1,000 and the women also received a generous donation from the Vale of Haldon Masonic Lodge.
