YEAR 7 students from Dawlish Community College took part in a reading event held at Dawlish library.
Students, parents, carers and siblings were invited to the event which was held on a college training day. The aim was to encourage students to see what the library has to offer.
All students who attended received a stamp to complete with their name. A college spokesman said: ‘We as a college want our students to embrace reading in order to develop their minds which should in turn progress their language skills as well as improve their listening skills. Evidence suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures.’
