RECYCLING in Dawlish is taking on a new twist with the first Fix Fest event.
Organised by Alison Foden, the event aims to help repair broken items with the aim of reducing waste.
Run in partnership with Recycle Devon, volunteers with repairing and fixing skills help to give new life to otherwise defunct items.
A professional electrician will be on hand to help fix electrical items along with cycle repair volunteers and digital repairs including phones, software, laptop, computer and technology repairs.
There is also expected to be help with general repairs, sewing and textile repairs and alterations.
The event is taking place tomorrow from 10am to 1pm at the Manor House in Dawlish.
Organisers will be asking for a small donation for each item fixed to raise money for the Friends of Dawlish Hospital.
Tea, coffee and cakes will also be available.
Ms Foden said: ‘I hope this event, a first for Dawlish, will be as popular as similar events have been in East Devon.
‘If it does prove popular, we hope to host another event later in the year.’
