Lock up sheds warning

By Ellen Grindley in Crime

POLICE are warning people living in rural areas to make sure their sheds are secure following a series of thefts.

Officers say there have been a number of incidents reported in Teignbridge and Exminster rural areas.

They say two or three ‘large set’ men travelling in a white flatbed van are suspected of the crimes.

A police spokesman said: ‘It is believed that these are opportunistic thieves who will drive up onto farms and rural properties in broad daylight and split up.

‘One or two will scout for scrap whilst the other speaks with any owners and have been reported as acting aggressively if asked to leave.

‘Please be vigilant and keep valuables locked up, mark them with an identifiable number and letters.

‘Call police with any such sightings on your or your neighbour’s land.’

If the offenders are believed to still be in the area, call 999.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 and quote police logs 472 and 464 of March 24.
