Pubs and clubs face licensing crackdown

Wednesday, 04 July 2012

PUBS and clubs across Teignbridge will be targeted by undercover police in a licensing crackdown.

Operation Ambassador is aimed at improving public safety and curbing trouble by using covert officers to check that licensed premises are being well managed.

Newton Abbot and Teignmouth will be the first areas officers will be focusing on with plans to visit Dawlish premises in the future.

Insp Dave Hammond explained that the exercise was planned to make sure pubs and clubs were fully complying with the terms of the licences.

Newton Abbot and Teignmouth are first on the list because they are the two busiest towns for pubs and clubs.
